The Celina Basketball teams took on the Princeton Panthers on Tuesday, February 6th, in the Bobcat gym. The Ladycats fell short to the Panthers in the first half, going into halftime with a score of 17-35. Coming back out on the court to start the 3rd quarter, Celina stayed up on their defense. They were also able to wow the crowd with five consecutive back to back shots, bringing the score to 34-44 at the end of the third quarter. However, they weren’t able to keep up the same momentum during the fourth. The Ladycats were taken down 46-62 at the final buzzer by the Panthers.
The Bobcats took command of the court following the ladies’ game and never let up on the Panthers. Celina went into the locker room at halftime leading Princeton 26-15. After the half, the Bobcats remained strong and finished the third quarter on top with a score of 40-23. Princeton tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats proved to be too much. The final score was Celina 58, Princeton 49.
The Celina Bobcats tip off against the Aubrey Chaparrals on Friday, February 9th at Celina High School. When the two teams met last month, the Bobcats prevailed, winning 67-63. Celina remains 1st place in District (11-4A), with Melissa and Aubrey tied for 2nd. Come out tomorrow night for more Hoops on the Hill!
