Celina LadyCats Softball is off to a great start in district play! They matched up against the Melissa Cardinals on Friday night, for their first home district game and did not disappoint! The LadyCats kept the momentum high through every inning and ended the game with a winning score of 6-4! Dobbins (#12) pitched 5 great innings, throwing 87 pitches, striking out 8 batters, walking 3 and only allowing 3 hits. Galloway (#14) then came in to finish out the game, leaving the Cardinals scoreless in those two innings. She threw 26 pitches and struck 2 batters out.
The LadyCats’ bats were hot too, the team earning .250 batting average for the game. Crucial homeruns from Grace Cantu (#3) and Hannah Ubanoski (#22), as well as the double from Galloway kept Celina fired up! Ubanoski also recorded 2 RBIs for the night. All in all, the girls ended the night with 6 hits, no errors, and a couple of stolen bases. The win puts them in a 3-way tie for 2nd place in district early on in the season!
Celina takes the field again tonight at home against the Princeton Panthers. The Panthers, currently last in district, are coming off of their 0-11 loss to Aubrey last week. Let’s head out to support the LadyCats tonight!
